Sixth former Freddie Owsley has the sporting world at his feet after a brilliant debut in the Sainsbury's British Athletics Indoor Championships in Sheffield.
The 18-year-old Bristol & West AC sprinter not only reached the final of the senior 200m, but finished fourth, just 0.07secs off the bronze medal.
The result places Freddie second in the UK Under-20 Rankings for 200m, in addition to third over his specialist event of 400m.
The times also suggest he is a medal contender in the England Under-20 Indoor Championships at the end of February.
"I am off up to Loughborough, but if I don't make the England squad then I might give up rugby a for a year to concentrate on my athletics," said Freddie, who plays as full-back for Bristol's Under-18s side."
Freddie's sister Lily, herself a former Clifton pupil, is already an established international hockey player and competed for England in the last world cup and also in the 2012 London Olympics.
