The 2014 Clifton College Rugby Festival turned out to be a wonderful day for all and a great way to start the new term. Twelve teams from south west preparatory schools used the bright Sunday morning to bring out their new 1st XVs and to warm up for the season ahead.
Teams played six rounds of three matches, with fifteen minutes each way and new teams to the festival Caldicott Prep School and King's Hall thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Paul Askew, the Director of Sport, said “there was some wonderful rugby played on Sunday. St John's on the Hill and Chepstow looked to have a good side this year and The Downs and Wraxall also had some impressive players.”
The festival was the busiest it has ever been, with crowds of supporters and spectators. A buffet lunch was provided for the parents while the players enjoyed a barbecue. And a Jazz Trio delivered a relaxing and fun atmosphere as The Close and the School glowed in the sunshine. Everyone who attended, whether staff, teammates or spectators, enjoyed the day immensely.
