Equestrian Team Progress - 12 October 2014

Stonar 27th September:

On Saturday 27th September the Clifton College Equestrian Team made their way to Stonar to enter their first One-Day Event of the season. This is a whole College team made up of riders from both the Prep School and Upper School.

Lottie Brown, competing on Johnny, rode as an individual in the 70cm class. She rode brilliantly and was clear in both the Show Jumping and Cross Country elements.

In the afternoon, Elektra Banks riding Bert, Corabella Hill on Jeffrey, Jack Powell on Paddy and Lucia Sarsby on Fettle entered the 80cm class as a team.

After some sensational riding where all members of the team were clear in both the Show Jumping and the Cross Country, we were placed 4th overall (due to a few of our riders going too quickly (!) on the Cross Country course). This is a fantastic achievement beating many other very established high profile Equestrian schools. As an individual, Elektra Banks was also placed 8th.

Hartpury 11th/12th October:

On the weekend of 11th and 12th of October, riders from the Clifton College Equestrian Team competed at Hartpury Equine College in an NSA Show Jumping event. On Saturday, Lottie Brown riding Johnny, went clear in the 70cm class and had one refusal in the 80cm but rode extremely well.

On the Sunday, in the 90cm class, Elektra Banks riding Bert, had one refusal on a very technical course which had a few jumps that looked more like a 100cm spread! The one Bert refused had also been put back wrong (higher) so it was somewhat understandable. Jack Powell, riding Paddy, also rode in the 90cm class. It was his first time competing at this height and was unfortunately eliminated as it was possibly too tough a course to start out on – Paddy did him very proud though.
