Safeguarding

Clifton College is committed to safeguarding as an embedded practice across the whole school. Pastoral care and academic achievement go hand in hand and we recognise that one cannot flourish without the other. Our pupils perform best when they are happy and secure, so Clifton College is proud to have built a caring and supportive community.

It's everyone’s responsibility

A rapidly changing modern world

Children today are growing up in a world that is evolving faster than ever before. We aim to give our pupils the skills, knowledge and confidence to navigate their way in a rapidly changing modern world.

Exceptional care

In addition to the academic and co-curricular programme, we have exceptional care through our pastoral support and safeguarding practices so that our pupils leave Clifton as well-rounded young adults.

A focus on wellbeing

Through a strong focus on wellbeing and promoting positive values, we ensure that children at every stage of school can flourish intellectually, morally, physically and emotionally.

What is safeguarding?

For us, safeguarding means:

  • Offering help and support as soon as a pupil needs it

  • Protecting children from harm, at home, at school and online

  • Looking after their mental and physical wellbeing, so nothing gets in the way of their development

  • Creating a school community where everyone feels secure, valued and respected

A whole school approach

Safeguarding is broader than child protection, everyone has a role to play and our whole school approach includes mental health and wellbeing, online safety, anti-bullying, site security and educational visits; spanning multiple departments across the College.
