At Clifton College, sustainability is an integral part of how we think, learn, and act as a community. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and inspiring our pupils and staff to make responsible choices that support a more sustainable future.

Student engagement in environmental matters start at an early age, with a well regarded Forest School offering in the Pre-Prep and thriving ‘Green Team’ in the Prep School.
Clifton College has a long and distinguished relationship with science. Today, the College continues to put science and the scientific process at the heart of our academic excellence. Many students continue successful scientific and geographic journeys onto renowned universities and institutions. Cliftonians have and will continue to thrive as a result. We recognise the huge developmental leaps science has allowed and trust in the scientific process. It is onto this foundation that we strive to develop the College and its students in preparation of a rapidly changing global climate, biodiversity loss and other environmental challenges.
We develop student confidence, knowledge and critical thinking skills required to understand complex environmental change. This will allow them to counter mis and disinformation and make choices that will benefit them in later life.

Year 9 have the opportunity to experience a transformative ‘Alpine Programme’ in Tignes, France. Along with many co-benefits of time spent completing adventurous activity, students complete inspiring and high-quality climate change education delivered by climate experts, snow sport advocates and explorers. They are able to witness first-hand that environmental change is not uniform. Global perspectives are crucial in preparing students for the world beyond Clifton.

The SEEd Young Change Makers Programme is a one year programme building knowledge and competencies around sustainability. Students are given the opportunity to learn new skills, create and lead sustainability initiatives within the College. These have included production of the College's first podcast and environmental newsletter.

While it is pivotal to give pupils a central role in advocacy and change, it is also important that the College demonstrates commitment to our young people through our own actions. We have been very proud to publish our first ever carbon impact report. This has given us powerful insights into the operation of the College, and a roadmap of improvement. The College recognises the importance of addressing sustainability for the long-term development of the School.
Consistent with many forward-thinking organisations, we consider our current impact and the evolution of the college into the future decades. Our first impact report demonstrates our commitment to improving our environmental impact through monitoring and understanding how the college functions. This is the start of an exciting but important journey for the College community.
