Every August, Bristol hosts the spectacular International Balloon Fiesta - one of Europe’s largest ballooning events. Thousands of visitors gather to watch mass ascents and night glows, and the festival takes place just a short walk from Clifton College.

Bristol is exceptionally well connected. The city has its own international airport, offering regular direct and connecting flights across the UK, Europe and worldwide destinations.

Two major train stations provide fast and convenient travel, including a swift 1 hour 10 minute journey to London Paddington, easy access to the South West’s coastline and countryside, and strong links to the rest of the UK.

Bristol is home to a thriving creative community, with many award‑winning films and television series produced in the city. Its strong arts scene offers pupils and families plenty to explore, from contemporary galleries to world‑class museums.

The city also boasts a rich theatre culture, including our very own Redgrave Theatre on the Clifton College campus, which regularly hosts national and international touring productions. It’s a vibrant, inspiring environment for pupils to enjoy both as part of their education and in their free time.

Bristol is a fantastic city for sports fans, home to several high‑profile teams including Bristol City in Championship football, Bristol Bears in Premiership rugby, Bristol Pitbulls in ice hockey and Bristol Flyers in professional basketball. The city also hosts a wide range of national sporting events throughout the year.

Nearby Ashton Gate Stadium regularly welcomes major fixtures, including national men’s and women’s football matches. It was recently a host venue for the Women’s Rugby World Cup, bringing world‑class sport even closer to Clifton College.
