Director of Music, Preparatory School for September 2015

We are seeking to appoint from September 2015 (or for the right candidate January 2016) an inspiring, enthusiastic and dynamic Director of Music to lead a highly successful Music Department within our Preparatory School.  The role will first and foremost be centred on academic teaching.

Music has a very strong tradition at Clifton College.  The role will first and foremost provide effective leadership and management and thereby build and maintain an effective teaching team which continually enhances the quality of learning and achievement across Years 1 – 8.

The Preparatory School Music Department is a well-resourced, high profile flagship of Clifton College.  A high level of keyboard skills is essential and a choral or some choral background would be an advantage.

Head Chef
£33,000-£35,000 per annum

From shepherds’ pie to sumptuous dinners. More than a profession, more of a passion.

Our Head Chef has the opportunity to indulge a passion, a lifestyle, a love of food and creativity in the kitchen.

We provide breakfast, lunch and supper services seven days a week, including for our Summer School, along with considerable functions work, including weddings, corporate dinners and other prestigious events showcasing the College and its extensive facilities, throughout the year. We are looking for a Head Chef to lead our talented team of 9 Chefs within our large Catering department, to deliver and develop all the catering services at the College.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate superb culinary ability along with inspirational leadership and strong organisational skills. You will need to have the knowledge and creativity to plan menus that exceed high expectations. With a background in high volume and high profile catering, ideally in a hotel, restaurant or educational setting, you are likely to have at least five years’ experience at a senior level and be able to demonstrate a record of success in moving food operations forward.

City and Guilds 706 parts 1 and 2, and Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate are essentials, as is a willingness to be ‘hands-on’ with food production and training the busy team to produce exceptional food services.

School Shop Sales Assistant
£7.00 per hour

Clifton College School Shop is looking to recruit two experienced Sales Assistants to assist in the operation of the School Shop and associated services through the busy summer months. As well as providing a service for the busy Holiday Clubs and Language Schools the successful applicants will also be involved in stock taking and assisting the team during the busy back to school period.

The hours will be full time from July to early September over 5 days per week with Saturday hours available during the term time.

Previous retail experience advantageous but not essential.

Casual Theatre Technicians/Duty Managers
Redgrave Theatre, Clifton College - £6.60 - £8.00 per hour

Clifton College’s Redgrave Theatre is one of the most popular theatre venues for hire in Bristol showcasing a mixture of College productions, local amateur groups and touring professional companies. The Theatre is now looking for casual technicians to assist the existing team.

The role will involve being part of a small team that sets up the set, lighting, sound and props for the College’s in house productions.

Other duties will include helping to cover absences for theatre staff - acting as Duty Technician during get-ins, performances, events and get-outs, ensuring all theatre policies are adhered to. There is also the opportunity for additional casual work providing cover in the theatre bar during productions, at a separate rate of pay.

Due to the nature of the work we are not asking for any particular qualification, however candidates must be able to demonstrate that they possess the relevant skills, experience and training required to carry out this role.

Chef De Partie
Fixed Term Contract: 20th April 2015 until 31st January 2016.
Salary: £17,550 per annum

We are seeking to appoint a Chef de Partie to assist in the preparation and service of food for our busy catering operation. Candidates must have a passion for cooking and be able to manage their own workload. Previous experience of volume cooking is an advantage.

Level 2 Food Safety / Health & Safety would also be an advantage. Applicants will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food and customer service and maintaining impeccable standards of Food Safety.

This role is for 45 hours per week, worked in accordance with a shift pattern over 5 days out of 7 per week, including weekends on a rota basis. Shifts are 6am-3.00pm and 10am-7.30pm.

Student Systems Administrator
15 hours per week, Term Time Only (plus an additional one week).
Salary: £5,602

We require a Student Systems Administrator to provide administrative support for Pupil Information Systems, including SIMS, Insight and SchoolComms.

Strong IT skills including MS Office (Advanced Word and Excel) are essential. Good numeracy, analytical skills, written/verbal communication across all levels and the ability to work both on own initiative and contribute to team working are also essential.
