Deputy Head (Academic)

Teacher of Maths for September 2015

We require a well-qualified graduate to teach Mathematics throughout the Upper School from September 2015. The confidence to teach Mathematics A Level is required from all applicants, willingness to teach Further Mathematics modules would be advantageous, and the ability to assist students with Oxbridge and/or Olympiad preparation would be desirable.

Clifton College Preparatory School, Post Graduate Gap Year Tutors
Required for September 2015
Initial Fixed Term Contract for One Year, £16,000 per annum

This is a full time position which provides suitable applicants with the opportunity of benefitting from all aspects of working in a large, busy and thriving Boarding and Day Preparatory School. Successful applicants should expect to participate wholeheartedly in all walks of school life, as well as being able to develop their own areas of specialism, as applicable. There will be the possibility of residential accommodation for the right candidate, along with full use of all College sporting and recreational facilities. Successful candidates may also be able to seek holiday employment with Clifton College Services Limited. This would be remunerated separately and in addition to the basic salary of £16,000 per annum, which is based on 40 working hours per week. The post would carry an initial fixed term contract of one year with the possibility of further extension for the right candidate.

Duties:

  • To assist staff in the Games and PE Departments with curriculum and co-curricular Physical Education, Swimming, and Games lessons, including the possibility of the coaching and supervision of School Teams, with a specialism in Rugby, Cricket, Netball, or Swimming an advantage. A life guard qualification would be an advantage however training will be available.
  • To assist Housemasters and Housemistresses with the day-to-day running of the Day and Boarding Houses. Such duties will include break time supervision, accompanying the children to and from lunch, after school and prep supervision and in the case of the Boarding Houses, morning, evening and weekend duties on a rota basis.
  • To participate in the School ‘Outward Bound Programme’, including the running of activities such as Rock Climbing and Horse Riding.
  • To assist with the Saturday Morning and After School Co-Curricular Activities Programmes.
  • To perform School Duties, including Playground Supervision and Road Crossing Duty.
  • To participate in Day Trips, Overnight Trips and on occasions Overseas Trips.
  • To assist teaching staff in the classroom and the Library, as required.
  • To cover staff absence as required.
  • To assist the Senior Management Team and Secretarial Staff with other tasks and duties as required.

Holiday Club Coordinator
(Casual, variable hours during school holidays)

Clifton College Holiday Club and Activity Courses operate during each school holiday (this could be up to approximately 18 weeks annually) and require Holiday Club Coordinators to assist with leading the programme for our Juniors (age 5-7 years) or Kids’ Club (8-13 years).

You must be able to provide safe and creative play opportunities at the same time as safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children in our care.  You will be responsible for the planning, preparation and leading of structured sessions of play in conjunction with the setting Manager to ensure all children are engaged, happy and supervised at all times.

Applicants must have experience of working with children in an educational or playwork setting and have led or directed a team of staff in addition to possessing a keen interest in creative play.

Playworkers
(Casual, variable hours during school holidays)

Porter (Casual)
£7.50 per hour

We are seeking casual Porters to assist the Head Porter/Senior Porter in the delivery of Portering to the College. There are times when the workload in the department increases due to College events, open days, external events, absence and sickness and the College require staff to cover these periods of increased demand. Duties would include (but not limited to):

  • Lifting of furniture/equipment (including some heavy items)
  • Distribution of mail around the campus
  • Sweeping outside areas
  • General Portering duties
  • Occasional cleaning / security duties
  • Compliance to Health and Safety rules and regulations

This role can be physically demanding and may involve occasional long hours. A flexible approach to duties is required as work is available throughout the year and on all days of the week. Experience is not essential as training will be given.

Labourer, Salary: £17,340 per annum

Labourer required to:

  • Assist all trade persons and contractors where necessary. Collect and deliver building products (a full UK driving licence is a condition of employment) and to carry out PAT of portable appliances.

Previous experience and knowledge of the Building Industry is essential.

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week (8:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, 8:00am – 3:30pm Friday) with 45 minutes for lunch.

Chef De Partie
c.£17,000 per annum, depending on experience

Chef de Partie with recent experience required, preferably with a hotel background, to work in a busy kitchen with a team of nine chefs. The College runs all year round catering, to over 1300 pupils – including boarders – in term-time and over 600 staff, along with a busy function business including weddings and corporate dinners outside of term-time.

Formal City and Guilds qualifications and Basic Food Hygiene certificate are essential, as is enthusiasm for the role.

This role is for 45 hours per week, worked in accordance with a shift pattern over 5 days out of 7 per week, including weekends on a rota basis. Shifts are 6am-3.30pm and 10am-7.30pm.
