We are looking for enthusiastic, organised and creative EFL Teachers to join ELC Bristol from July 2024.

This IT Helpdesk Senior Technician role will provide a lead to the rest of the team, as well as have the capacity and skill to take a more proactive role in areas such as analysis of issues and improvement opportunities. We are looking for an enthusiastic and able teacher to assist with the delivery of GCSE and A level Chemistry from September 2024 as maternity cover. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a thriving department within beautiful surroundings and with outstanding facilities. There are currently six members of staff who teach in the Chemistry Department and two full-time technicians. There is a wealth of experience, all being dedicated to their job and seeking to get the best from the pupils in their classes. All staff also play full roles in the pastoral and co-curricular life of the school, which serves to enhance their role within the classroom. The department meets weekly to discuss departmental and school-wide issues, share good teaching practice and ICT strategies. There are excellent systems in place for health and safety, departmental planning and assessment.

Chemistry is a popular subject in the Sixth Form, having approximately 35 pupils in the Lower Sixth, and 35 in the Upper Sixth. The OCR A syllabus is followed at Key Stage 5. The department contributes significantly to the number of successful Oxbridge applications for the whole College, and has had success in the RSC Olympiad papers.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach throughout the age and ability range. Whatever the level of the teaching, an enthusiasm for the subject and the ability and energy to communicate it effectively are essential. We are looking to appoint a multi skilled Theatre Technician to support both commercial and internal productions. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate technical experience across Lighting, Sound and AV. Customer service and communication skills are key for this role, as you will liaise closely with visiting companies to ensure they have a smooth visit with us.

This is a casual position with no fixed hours. The nature of the role will require flexible evening and weekend work. The rate of pay is £13.50 per hour

Duties include, but are not limited to

  • Supporting get ins, fit ups and get outs
  • Preparation and rigging in advance of incoming productions
  • Acting as point of contact on arrival for visiting companies
  • Supervising performances and troubleshooting any technical issues
  • Maintaining technical equipment within the venue
  • Upon request, programming and operating lighting, sound and audio-visual equipmen
  • Ensuring all incoming companies have received H&S briefings and are following safe working practices at all times
